Remembrance Day
This Veterans Week, we honour the sacrifices made by Canadians in service to our country.
On November 8th, National Indigenous Veterans Day, we commemorate the brave contributions of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis who served around the world, in war and peacekeeping efforts.
On November 11th, Remembrance Day, we pay tribute to those who never returned home, and we salute those who did - forever changed by their experience. We must honour them by ensuring Veterans and their families receive proper care and support when they come home.
Yet the sad reality is that Veterans and their families are burdened with excessive paperwork and rigid deadlines stropping them from getting benefits. Some are forced to wait months and even years. Veterans Affairs Canada is failing them by failing to offer meaningful, trauma-informed care.
The NDP will always stand up for Veterans. The government owes them support and access to the benefits they earned. We will continue pushing to eliminate delays and barriers regarding the support they deserve.
